With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education, Taiwan applied for the International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS2016) in 2013. Professor Liu Mei Hui, from the Department of Education served as the organizer for the project that is made up of teams in different universities. On November 7, 2017 the preliminary result was released, showing that compared to countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas, Taiwan ranks second in the world in terms of citizen awareness and gender equality support, and ranks first in ethnic affiliation support.more

 2017-11-18 Workshop by the International Council for Science Held in NTNU 點閱次數: 5
From November 7th, the workshop of gender differences in science and mathematics field was held by The International Council for Science for two days in Gongguan campus of NTNU. Nearly 40 experts from 12 countries attended the workshop and focused on the discussion of the design of the questionnaire. The International Council for Science (ICSU, after its former name, International Council of Scientific Unions) is an international organization devoted to international cooperation in the advancement of science. Its members are national scientific bodies and international scientific unions. As of 2017, it comprises 122 multi-disciplinary National Scientific Members, Associates and Observers representing 142 countries and 31 international.more

2017 Foreign Students Chinese Public Speaking Competition was held at National Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall on November 3rd. Five students from the Mandarin Training Center were selected as representatives. Under the instruction of three senior Chinese teachers at MTC, all of them stood out of 77 contestants and received the second prize, the third prize and three honorable mentions. more

In recent years, the ranking of NTNU has been rising in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS University Rankings. It's our priority to raise students in an International environment. The Office of Teacher Education and Career Service has sent 101 students abroad for their internship in 2017. 41 of them are pre-service teachers that went to educational institutes and 36 of them attended business internships. In addition, 24 students were sent to institutes in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malasia in responding to the New Southbond Policy. more

A luncheon was held for Pennsylvania State University (PSU) alumni and Vice President Wu Cheng Chih. On October 27th, the administrators met with Vice President Sung Yao Ting to discuss the benchmarking policy.more

 2017-11-06 NTNU Student Receives Red Dot Design with Sign Language Learning App 點閱次數: 10
Chiang Po Yi, a graduate student from the Department of Design, received the 2017 Red Dot Design with a sign language learning app MGISL. This is his second award related to sign language and the first one was from the International Design Award in 2013. He became a designer by coincidence. According to Chiang, designing is not only for the product but to see the problem and solves it. The reason for him to design the app is that hearing impaired people are misunderstood because of lack of communication. By learning sign language with MGISL, the gap can be shortened. more

Chen Min Heng from the Department of Industrial Education won the gold medal in automobile technology and Best of Nation in WorldSkills Competition, also known as tradie Olympics. This is the second Gold medal of Taiwan since 1997. In addition, Chen also received the Gold medal of Best of Nation and this is the best total score in different categories of Taiwan since 1970.more

CEO of the famous U.S. startup Wonder Workshop Vikas Gupta visited NTNU on the morning of October 17, Professor Wu Cheng Chih and Associate Professor Chen Zhi Hong from the Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education, Ms. Chen Yi Fen from Taipei First Girls' High School and Mr. Huang Wei Ming and Ms. Weng Zhen Yuan from Dong-Hu Junior High School share their ideas with Mr. Gupta on the trends of program education, curriculum development and teaching aid design of primary and secondary schools in the world.more

Prof. Fang Wei Ta from the Graduate Insitute of Environmental Education invited five representatives and experts from International convention centers of wetlands to give talks to NTNU students to promote the talent of wetland in Taiwan.more

 2017-10-27 Professor Wu Cheng Chih Elected to be the 14th President of NTNU 點閱次數: 18
After four months of recommendation process, interviews, public hearings and final assessment, the Presidential Election Committee has finally decide the next president of NTNU. Vice President Wu Cheng Chih, from the Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education was elected as the new President of NTNU. The term of office is expected to start in April 22nd for four years. On June 19th, the announcement was put on the website. The review process, interview and the session of mission and value were done in September. The university affairs meeting was held on October 18th and the candidate that won more than 50% of the vote was elected as the President. Vice President Wu, one of the distinguished research professor at NTNU, is an alumni of NTNU. After graduated Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education, he went to the University of Texas at Austin for his Ph.D. study on Computer Science Education with the scholarship from the Minister of Education. In NTNU, he has worked as the Chairman of the Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education, the Director of Information Technology Center, Dean of the Office of Academic Affairs and Vice President. He has received Research Awards from National Science Council for several times and now he also serves as project director at Intel Teach Program. Wu’s expertise includes designing computer courses and teaching materials, teaching with information technology, and mobile learning. During his deanship at NTNU, he has put through many reforms, including the establishment of NTU System, where faculties and students of the three universities can share resources, collaborative benchmarking projects with Pennsylvania State University and University of British Columbia, bonding academic relationships with University of California at Los Angeles, Berkeley and University of Southern California. Wu has proposed seven important focus for NTNU in the next four years, including the cultivation and recruiting of outstanding teachers and students, put students first, support administrators, continue to foster the development of internationalization, build a strong alumni network, strengthen the diversification of industrial connection, strive for and make good use of resources of all aspects. These ideas were approved by a majority of committee members. more

Takagi Makoto was born in Kanagawa ken. He has learned piano since little and started guitar at the age of 13. He studied in Musashino Academia Musicae. In 1982, he entered the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid in Spain and studied with Jorge Ariza. After graduation with outstanding performance and received the advanced diploma of guitar playing. more

The Amitofo Care Centre (ACC) - which comprises of an administration centre, children’s dormitories, youth dormitories, preparatory school, kindergarten, library, activity centre, medical centre, vocational training centre, religious centre, CBO etc - is founded and directed by Buddhist clergy from the East with an aspiration and mission to directly rear and care for orphans of Africa within the humanitarian and educational umbrella. The main principles of ACC are based on local African culture, Chinese culture and Buddhist philosophy which are given to the orphans in need.more

Do you know that the sound made by frogs can be the clue to discover a new species? Prof. Lin Si Min with students Wang Ying Han, Hsiao Yu Wei discovered a new species of tree frog in Taiwan through sound and behavior. The result, “Acoustic differentiation and behavioral response reveals cryptic species within Buergeria treefrogs (Anura, Rhacophoridae) from Taiwan”, was published in September on PLOS ONE. more
