On October 26, Quacquarelli Symonds announced the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2023, the first rankings focused on social and environmental sustainability performance in higher education institutions. NTNU is ranked 3rd in Taiwan and around 50th globally in Sustainable Institutions and 100th in education influence.[ more ]

The latest World's Top 2% Scientists list was announced on October 10. 14 faculty members from National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) were listed on the Lifetime Scientific Impact list and 24 faculty members were listed on the Annual Scientific Impact list, the research results are widely recognized internationally.[ more ]

As the relationship between Taiwan and the United States continues to grow, President Cheng-Chih Wu led a delegation to the United States in August to facilitate the cooperation between NTNU and sister universities in the States. On August 10, NTNU signed the renewed MOU and the Taiwan Huayu BEST Program partnership with the University of Maryland. Later, the delegation visited UCLA and the University of Texas at Austin as well as attended 7 alumni gatherings in different parts of the United States to bond with oversea alumni associations.[ more ]

To deepen the cooperation between NTNU and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), President Cheng-Chih Wu led a delegation to our sister school in the United States on August 18th and met with the Chancellor Gene Block and several administrators and deans to further exchanged views on the Taiwan Huayu BEST Program partnership. Through this meeting, the friendship between the two universities was strengthened. The UCLA Asia Pacific Center also held a luncheon for the delegation and invited about 30 scholars and PhD students to join.[ more ]

CIIPE was co-founded in 1979 by CSU faculty and designers Phil Risbeck and John Sorbie, and Northern Colorado artist Bob Coonts. It serves as a unique educational resource allowing graphic design and art majors to work directly with designers study the work closely with current CSU graphic design faculty and gain valuable career experience preparing and installing the exhibition. Unlike other international design competitions that publicly invite participants to submit works, the committee of CIIPE sends invitations to designers worldwide to participate with their latest works. Its unique way of running makes Colorado a mecca for poster design with more than 3000 posters from renowned artists.[ more ]

國立臺灣師範大學設計學系林磐聳名譽教授，獲頒2022年第22屆CIIPE美國科羅拉多國際海報雙年展的「榮譽桂冠」，不但是全球唯一，也是臺灣獲得這項榮譽的第一人，上月底受邀到科羅拉多州立大學藝術中心擔任雙年展獨任評審，評選出6位得獎者，並於畫廊舉辦個展，還發表專題演講「我的故鄉：臺灣」，讓中華民國國旗在舞臺上飄揚，也讓世界設計界看見臺灣。[ more ]

October 15th is the White Cane Safety Day, the Day of the Blind. In order to reduce the learning difficulties of blind students in mathematics, Associate Professor Chien-Huey Sophie Chang of the Department of Special Education of NTNU led a team to develop the "A8M Digital Learning Tool" which is convenient for visually impaired students to read and write mathematics. It is easy to use and enables teachers to communicate well with visually impaired students. Users can listen and read repeatedly with a Braille display, which makes it easier to grasp the structure of complex mathematical formulas.[ more ]

10月15日是國際盲人節，為降低盲生學習數學障礙，國立臺灣師範大學特殊教育系張千惠副教授率領團隊，研發出方便視障生讀寫數學的「A8M數位學習工具」，不但操作簡單，並具備雙重感官特色，可同時接收資訊，讓明眼老師與視障學生進行良好溝通，且使用者可反覆聽讀，輔以點字顯示器摸讀方式，更容易掌握繁複數理公式的結構及成分。[ more ]

From September 2 to October 6, National Taiwan Normal University is showing “Restoration of Classic Sculptures,” an exhibit of 31 restored plaster replicas of classic Western sculptures. These plaster casts were purchased by NTNU from France more than 30 years ago; they are the only original copies with official copyrights licensed by the Louvre Museum. After two and half years of intensive collaborations and painstaking effort by faculty and students of the Fine Arts Department, the result of their labor is displayed to the general public in the basement level of NTNU’s Fine Arts Building.[ more ]

國立臺灣師範大學30多年前從法國羅浮宮購入31尊翻模石膏像，成為美術系師生及全國大學術科考試的臨摹題材。石膏像近年龜裂、發霉嚴重，在日本專家指導下，師生一同修復完成，9月2日起在美術系館地下一樓正式展出，歡迎師生及民眾參觀。[ more ]

Distinguished Alumnus of NTNU, Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commissioner and Chairman of the New York Taiwan Center Su Chun Hwai was invited to give a speech at the Department of Mathmetics on October 5. 臺師大傑出校友、我國僑務委員及紐約臺灣會館理事長蘇春槐，10月5日應邀至母校數學系演講。他以自身數學跨統計的經歷，鼓勵數學系學生應跨足其他領域，才能創造新價值；他也以培育女兒、超微（AMD）董事長暨執行長蘇姿丰為例，勉勵學弟妹做任何事情，只要盡其所能，就有機會打破不可能。他強調：「挑戰最困難的事，才能被記住，並創造歷史。」[ more ]
