Monetary issues were the center of the discussion while more than 20 graduate students from 27 different departments were meeting the authorities for trouble shooting at the Complex Building today.
In response to graduate students’ request for more funds, more internship opportunities and all money related requests, Office of Academic Affairs Dean Tony Lee (李通藝), who was chairing the meeting on behalf of his fellow authorities, promised that he would refer these requests and questions to President Gou Yih-shun (郭義雄) and would try to resolve the problems as soon as possible.
Lee explained that he was commissioned to chair the meeting since Gou, Vice Presidents Jo Chen (陳瓊花) and Chang Kuo-en (張國恩) were all on assignment trips.
Regarding Lee’s responses, Lee Wan-chun (李婉淳), who is working on her second-year doctorate program in music, said it was obvious that the authorities knew well how to defend themselves but she would still affirm such a chance for graduate students to speak out.
"I think it means a lot to us that we have a chance to make sure that our voices can be heard, no matter if they come true or not,” she said.
