College graduates with qualified English or Japanese language comprehensive abilities seem to be local firms’ favorites, since most of them marked it as the most important factors to consider a candidate during today’s job fair at the Sunshine Boulevard on the main campus.
"We are looking for somebody who speaks fluently English or Japanese,” said Christine Chen (陳巧如), a human resource staff member of the Kao Corp, which is a well-known Japanese firm with various products of cleanser. “We understand that most National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) students are a little bit shy but we know that NTNU cultivated qualified graduates, so we do not really care whether the job hunter’s major fits.”
In addition to Kao, another 21 firms of high-tech industry participated in the job fair and company representatives would take advantage of the activity to interview their favorite candidates. Most of the company representatives were eager to find those students with remarkable language abilities, like what Chen did.
Taiwan Name Plate Co Ltd. Human Resource Manager Lin Yi-liang (林益樑) said that he was looking for a candidate who would pass the intermediate level of the General English Proficiency Test.
"I know there are many of them out there, especially here at NTNU. That is why I am here today,” he said.
