A total of 98 firms participated in a job fair, organized by the Office of Teacher Education and Careers Service (OTECS), on the main campus today with a hope to find their favorite employees among National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) students.
"Generally speaking, I believe that NTNU students are well-educated and trained during their four years here,” said Tsao Yun-hsiu (曹雲琇), a staff member of the OTECS. “Since the teaching positions continue to decrease, it is about time for NTNU students to take alternative challenges, in terms of job hunting.
Although NTNU students became hot shots during the job fair, local firms’ question mark of today’s college graduates’ duration, interpersonal communication and their capabilities to merge, cooperate and work with fellow teammates still remains.
"The younger generations have something that we need – creativity and malleability. But we are also worried that they might not know how to work with others in a team,” said Chen Yi-wen (陳奕雯), campus business manager for the 104 Job Bank, which was one of the 98 firms for the job fair.
On the contrary, many NTNU students discovered that they may need more education to make themselves more competitive for the job market before they can be ready to launch their job hunting process.
"Without a higher degree, I believe that I am not good enough to defeat my competitors,” said Tseng Yu-chieh (曾鈺潔), a junior from the Department of Physics.
