The father of Taiwan modern Chinese Water Painting, lecture professor Liu Kuo-sung from NTNU department of art awarded the first Chinese art honorary academy award held by Chinese National Academy of Arts. The award ceremony was held on December 19th at Beijing National Museum.
Chinese National Academy of Arts was developed by the basic on Chinese National Academy of Drama, Central academy of ethnomusicology, and Chinese National Academy of Painting. It had been founded for 56 years. The first chief was the master of peking opera Mei Lan-feng.
The Chinese Art Award included the honorary academy award, art award, and youth award. The purpose was to encourage people with outstanding performances on art, to promote the prosperous Chinese art development. Liu Kuo-sung was the only artist from Taiwan among all the winners.
Liu Kuo-sung dedicated his whole life on modernizing Chinese water painting. He awarded the national art award at 2008. His works were collected in British Museum and 70 other museums around the world. His art creative theory and practice was written in different version of Chinese art history.
Liu Kuo-sung graduated from NTNU department of arts. He was once the art professor and director of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He taught and held exhibitions in China in 1983. He was currently the lecture professor in NTNU department of arts.
His award represented that Taiwanese artists achievement were approved by the international. The Chinese Water Painting was able to compare with the oil painting in western country.
