After four months of recommendation process, interviews, public hearings and final assessment, the Presidential Election Committee has finally decide the next president of NTNU. Vice President Wu Cheng Chih, from the Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education was elected as the new President of NTNU. The term of office is expected to start in April 22nd for four years.   On June 19th, the announcement was put on the website. The review process, interview and the session of mission and value were done in September. The university affairs meeting was held on October 18th and the candidate that won more than 50% of the vote was elected as the President.[ more ]

國立臺灣師範大學第14任校長遴選，歷經4個多月公告、推薦、面訪、公聽會及決選後，10月20日正式選出新任校長，將由臺師大資訊教育研究所優聘教授兼副校長吳正己出任。本校將報請教育部聘任新任校長人選，預計自明年2月22日起聘任，任期4年。 師大校長遴選委員會自6月19日於官網貼出公告，歡迎各界推薦新任校長人選，經9月5日實質審查，9月15日面談，9月29日舉辦校長候選人治校理念說明會，於10月18日召開校務會議，獲超過半數比率之校務會議委員同意。[ more ]

Times Higher Education has announced the latest World University Rankings 2018 by subject: education. National Taiwan Normal University is ranked 22nd in the world and 3rd in Asia. This is another ranking, after QS Rankings by Subject announced this March, revels that NTNU is at a leading position in education.   The 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ table for education subjects employs the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields. It highlights the universities that are leading across education, teacher training, and academic studies in education subjects.[ more ]

英國《泰晤士報高等教育特刊》（Times Higher Education，簡稱THE）10月5日首度公布世界大學教育領域排行榜，國立臺灣師範大學排名全球第22名，全亞洲第三，這是繼今年3月名列QS公布全球大學教育領域第40名後，再有另一份最具影響力的全球大學排名報告顯示，臺師大在教育領域居全球領先地位，具有高度國際競爭力。[ more ]

NTNU signed an MOU with the University of California, Berkeley. UB Berkeley will send 3 university students from the Dept. of chemistry to NTNU. This is a great opportunity for students to learn from each other academically, broaden their horizon and it’s also a good start for cooperation.  The University of California, Berkeley is a public research university located in Berkeley, California. [ more ]

國立臺灣師範大學理學院與美國頂尖學府加州大學柏克萊分校 (UC Berkeley)化學學院簽訂學生交流協議，加州大學柏克萊分校將提供3名大學部學生，赴其化學學院進修。此協議不僅可提升學生學術研究能力，拓展國際視野，並藉此開展兩校學術研究及教學合作契機。 加州大學柏克萊分校是加州大學系統的創始大學，創立於1868年，是世界頂尖的公立研究型大學。該校位於美國加州舊金山灣區柏克萊市，研究水平極高，共有93位成員獲得諾貝爾獎桂冠，其中19位為化學獎得主。2017年世界大學學術排名(ARWU)，加州大學柏克萊分校為第5名，2016年的自然科學與數學(Natural Sciences and Mathematics)排名更是高居全球第1。[ more ]

Vice Provost for Global Programs, Michael Adewumi, Director of Global Engagement Martin Trethewey, Professor Rose Lee‐Yong Tan and other administrators from Pennsylvania State University visited NTNU on October 26th. A luncheon was held for Pennsylvania State University (PSU) alumni and Vice President Wu Cheng Chih. On October 27th, the administrators met with Vice President Sung Yao Ting to discuss the benchmarking policy.   Pennsylvania State University is a public research university at the state of Pennsylvania. Its University Park campus, is ranked 15th in all public universities in the states. There are 43,252 students in University Park campus and in total, there are more than 84,000 students in all campus of PSU, making it one of the biggest public schools in America.[ more ]

姐妹校美國賓州州立大學(以下簡稱PSU)於10月26日參訪師大，由副校長Michael Adewumi、全球計畫辦公室副總監Martin Trethewey、Rose Lee‐Yong Tan教授代表，與師大副校長吳正己、PSU校友餐敘外，10月27日也與副校長宋曜廷討論師大「一系所一標竿」政策會議，暢談更多課程、系所上的交流可能。 賓夕法尼亞州立大學Pennsylvania State University是位於美國賓夕法尼亞州的一所世界著名的公立研究型大學，簡稱賓州州大，University Park校區在全美公立大學中排名前十五。賓州州立大學University Park分校在校學生人數43,252人，賓州州立大學系統全部24個分校的在校學生人數總和超過84,000人，是全美最大的十所公立大學之一。[ more ]

國立臺灣師範大學科技應用與人力資源發展學系與臺灣特斯拉汽車有限公司（Tesla），於12月7日簽訂合作備忘錄。 臺師大科技系張玉山主任表示，由於目前人才市場中的競爭，已不僅止於單一專業技能，更重要的是具備通才的T型人才，「T型人才」字母「T」，當中的「一」代表知識的寬度；而「I」代表知識的深度，具有跨領域的人才，未來才能在競爭激烈的市場中脫穎而出，而臺師大科技系正是能夠培養T型人才的搖籃。特斯拉汽車進入臺灣市場後，正積極網羅在地人才，如顧客服務、顧客體驗銷售、與人力資源等相關職缺，對於多元領域的人才更是需求孔急，因此雙方簽訂合作備忘錄，共同致力於全方位人才的培育。[ more ]

A National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) research team has unveiled a natural light eye tracker that it says causes less eye fatigue and is cheaper than conventional infrared devices. Eye trackers measure eye movement or the object of gaze during reading or viewing. The devices are widely used as learning aids and research tools for studies in psychology, marketing and other related fields, said the team, composed of NTNU psychology professors Sung Yao-ting (宋曜廷) and Wu Chao-jung (吳昭容), and electrical engineer Kao Wen-chung (高文忠).[ more ]

小朋友動動眼睛，盯著螢幕看到不懂的字，停留一下就自動發出字詞聲音，甚至產生動畫和圖表來說明，這可不是科幻電影情節。國立臺灣師範大學教育心理與輔導學系宋曜廷教授與吳昭容教授，以及電機工程學系高文忠教授的跨領域團隊在邁向頂尖大學計畫支持下，耗時四年共同研發「眼動電子書」，全球唯一且技術領先業界，透過自然光眼動偵測技術，系統即時分析兒童閱讀時的眼動行為，再結合眼球追蹤技術，同步給予互動式回饋。兒童看完了電子書，系統還會產生多張回饋圖表，幫助家長及老師掌握兒童閱讀時的重點，有沒有忽略哪一部分，更不會一直打斷閱讀過程。[ more ]

Chiang Po Yi, a graduate student from the Department of Design, received the 2017 Red Dot Design with a sign language learning app MGISL. This is his second award related to sign language and the first one was from the International Design Award in 2013. He became a designer by coincidence. According to Chiang, designing is not only for the product but to see the problem and solves it. The reason for him to design the app is that hearing impaired people are misunderstood because of lack of communication. By learning sign language with MGISL, the gap can be shortened. [ more ]

暖男設計家、臺灣師範大學設計系碩士生江柏逸，以手語學習App拿下2017年紅點設計獎，這是他第二度以手語學習產品獲獎。因「巧合」踏進設計領域的江柏逸認為，設計不僅是幫產品做包裝，更要能發現問題並解決問題，手語學習產品就是發現聾人有因大眾不了解而被誤解的問題，透過開發手語學習產品，讓大眾能了解聾人所使用的語言並做溝通。[ more ]

Chen Min Heng from the Department of Industrial Education won the gold medal in automobile technology and Best of Nation in WorldSkills Competition, also known as tradie Olympics. This is the second Gold medal of Taiwan since 1997. In addition, Chen also received the Gold medal of Best of Nation and this is the best total score in different categories of Taiwan since 1970.[ more ]

國立臺灣師範大學工業教育學系陳泯亨同學，參加2017國際技能競賽（WorldSkills Competition），於阿布達比勇奪汽車技術金牌及國家最佳選手獎金牌。 2017國際技能競賽（WorldSkills Competition）同時被譽為「技能界奧林匹克」，這是兩年一次的國際技能競賽，也是國際上最大職業技能賽事，台灣自1970年入會後即積極參與每屆賽事，以推廣專業技能、培育優秀人才為主要目標。今年於阿布達比（Abu Dhabi）在106年10月15日至18日為期四天正式開始，此競賽以建築技術、創意藝術和時尚、資訊和傳播技術、製造和工程技術、社會服務及交通運輸等6大類別，有51項職類競賽，共計58個國家和地區及1,256名選手參賽，而汽車技術職類共有38個國家參與競賽，本屆汽車技術由師大工教系陳泯亨同學擔任國手出賽，經過激烈的四天競賽之後，陳泯亨同學以精熟的技術脫穎而出勇奪汽車技術金牌，本項金牌佳績為台灣繼1997年由工教系張俊興老師獲得金牌後，相隔20年再次奪金牌。[ more ]

Dean Lin Chun Liang of the College of Arts helped training contestants for the 44th World Skills Competition and grabbed the gold medal that hasn’t belongs to Taiwan for 24 years.  Founded in 1950, "WorldSkills" is the global hub for skills excellence and development. WorldSkills brings youth, industries, and educators together to give youth the chance to compete, experience, and learn how to become the best in their skill of choice. [ more ]
