Times Higher Education has announced the latest World University Rankings 2018 by subject: arts and humanities. Only two universities in Taiwan made to the list of top 400 universities. National Taiwan Normal University is ranked 176-200 while National Taiwan University is ranked 126-150.   The 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ table for arts and humanities subjects employs the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields. It highlights the universities that are leading across art, performing arts, languages, history, philosophy, theology, architecture and archaeology subjects. This year, there are 400 universities from 77 countries on the list whereas there were only 100 schools last year.[ more ]

英國《泰晤士報高等教育特刊》（Times Higher Education）於9月13日公布最新世界大學藝術與人文領域排行榜，全球前400名大學中，臺灣只有兩所學校入榜，國立臺灣師範大學排名全球176-200名，僅次於臺灣大學的126-150名。 泰晤士報高等教育專刊針對藝術與人文領域，從77個國家的大學中，根據各大學在教學、研究質量、論文引用次數、國際形象及知識轉移等五大範疇的13項指標及權重來評分，最終今年列出400所學校排名，去年僅列出100所。[ more ]

In recent years, NTNU has been working closely with world-class universities. On June 28th, the College of Liberal Arts of NTNU signed a MOU with The University of California, Los Angeles campus, UCLA, focusing on the exchange in linguists, literature and culture of Taiwan. This is a step forward for NTNU. The University of California, Los Angeles is a public research university in the Westwood district of Los Angeles, California, United States. It became the Southern Branch of the University of California in 1919, making it the second-oldest undergraduate campus of the ten-campus University of California system. It offers 337 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines. UCLA enrolls about 31,000 undergraduate and 13,000 graduate students,[6] and had 119,000 applicants for Fall 2016, including transfer applicants, the most applicants for any American university. There are a total of 40,000 students on campus. More than 10 Nobel Prize or Pulitzer Prize winner are from UCLA.[ more ]

國立臺灣師範大學近年積極與世界一流大學合作，師大文學院與美國加州大學洛杉磯校區(University of California,Los Angeles，簡稱UCLA)人文學院於6月28日簽訂學術合作備忘錄，就雙方有關臺灣的語言學、文學與文化等，進行學術交流與合作，更邁進了一大步。 UCLA創辦於1919年，位於加州南部洛杉磯市精華地段，是全美最具知名度的公立研究型大學之一，也是加州大學系統中歷史第二悠久的學校，共有醫學、法律、教育、藝術與建築等11個學院，學生人數將近4萬名，至今已培育出10多位諾貝爾獎與普立茲獎得主。[ more ]

On August 28, National Taiwan Normal University signed an MOU with The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), which is the first step or cooperation after the College of Arts has signed the MOU with ULB in July. President Chang Kuo En and President Yvon Englert were presented at the International Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony. In the signing ceremony, President Chang introduced to the guests of ULB the strength of NTNU and welcomed them to Taiwan. “We are grateful to this cooperation. ULB is a very Internationalized university and so is NTNU. Around 6000 foreign students and 1500 oversea Chinese students study here.”[ more ]

8月29日，師大與比利時布魯塞爾自由大學（ULB）在第一會議室簽署學術合作備忘錄（MOU）。這是繼7月文學院與自由大學簽署MOU後，兩校更進一步合作。張國恩校長與自由大學校長Yvon Englert皆親自出席備忘錄簽署儀式，交流熱絡。 「感謝ULB跟我們合作！這對我來說是一個很棒的合作機會！據我所知，ULB是個非常國際化的學校，而師大同樣也是一所國際化的大學，大約有6000多位外國學生與1500名海外僑生在此就讀。」在簽約儀式中，張校長向自由大學的來賓介紹師大的優勢，並熱情歡迎他們的來訪。[ more ]

National Taiwan Normal University has 70 years of history. Among more than 40,000 universities in the world, the academic reputation of NTNU has reached no. 289; in terms of internationalization NTNU was ranked 122 in the world, which is also the highest in Taiwan. Times Higher Education (THE) made a list of the world's top 200 universities with the most foreign students and NTNU was ranked no. 152, the only university in Taiwan listed. All of the above have shown that NTNU is recognized internationally with the improved quality of research and internationalization.[ more ]

Professor of Departments of Civics and Education, Yen Miao Kuei, have organized the teacher’s camp in Myanmar every summer for ten years with Love Myanmar Club. Over the years, they have helped raised 250,000 books, 161 laptops and influenced over 1300 teachers and administrators to improve the education for the next generation of Burmese Chinese. In one session in 2008, one Chinese teacher asked Yen “Will you come again next year?” His eager and passion for learning is the cause of this long and heart-warming 10 year oversea relationship for the love of education.[ more ]

服務觸角突破國界，只願點燃教育一線曙光。國立臺灣師範大學公民教育與活動領導學系顏妙桂教授從2008年開始，每年暑假帶領緬麗伊甸園國際志工服務隊不辭千里舉辦「教師研習營」，至今十年來，已有超過1300位華文教師參與培訓，桃李遍布緬北多所華校，更募集近25萬本圖書、161臺筆電，兒童及少年營隊學員370人，捐助建設學校210萬元，致力改善緬甸下一代華僑的教育資源與環境。 「明年，你們還會再來嗎？」 「明年，你們還會再來嗎？」2008年首次研習結束的座談會中，有位緬甸華文教師舉手問顏老師，他用殷切期盼的話語和眼神，傳達出他們對學習的迫切與渴望，也因而延續了顏妙桂老師與緬麗伊甸園在緬甸彬烏倫(又稱眉謬/眉苗)佛教名勝「天然宮」，10年跨海傳遞教育愛的漫漫長路。[ more ]

The World Games of 2017 just came to an end. More than 10 contestants joined the contest. Chinese Taipei Tug of War Women’s team brought back gold medal and achieved four consecutive victories in a row. The Taiwan team also grabbed the first silver among all Asian countries in Korfball. Wen Tzu-Yun, a karate athlete, got a silver medal in her first time joining the world games. A ceremony was held on August 9th and President Chang gave the athletes prize of 50,000 NTD and 30,000 NTD to encourage them to keep up the good work. President Chang said that the Taiwan team got a total of 1 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze while NTNU student got 1 gold and 2 silver. He is impressed by the hard work the athletes put into practice. Vice President of the Office of Student Affairs Chang Shao His said that in the 2011 Universiade, the Taiwanese athletes grabbed 11 gold medals while 4 of them were received by NTNU students. He also thanked the president, the Sports Administration, and the medical team for supporting the athletes.[ more ]

2017世界運動會落幕，師大共超過10位選手參賽。其中師大、景美拔河聯隊奪下金牌，完成4連霸壯舉，合球隊也勇奪亞洲隊伍史上第1面銀牌，「空手道甜心」文姿云更是首度參加世運會就摘下銀牌。校長張國恩特於8月9日舉辦頒獎典禮，親自頒發選手們5萬元及3萬元獎金，感謝他們為國、為校爭光，也鼓勵勇將們繼續追求佳績。 張國恩表示，這次中華隊共奪1金4銀3銅，師大就參與了1金2銀，相當不容易；他去年曾現場看過女子拔河隊與強敵中國隊比賽，真的非常艱辛，肯定每一位選手艱苦訓練的辛勞，學務長張少熙也說，2011世大運中，台灣共摘下7面金牌，其中師大就包辦了4面，可見師大選手的堅強實力；他也感謝校長、體育署與醫療團隊，給選手無微不至的照護與支持。[ more ]

Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade came to an end on August 30th. Athletes from the Department of Athletic Performance and Department of Physical Education bring back 1 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze. 6 teachers from NTNU served as coach instructing the athletes. President Chang Kuo En awarded the athletes with a total of 460,000 to honor the students for their hard work. 51 students from NTNU joined the Universiade as athletes. They have had a good showing at Taekwondo, Women's Basketball, Track and Field, Women's Weight lifting, Archery and Rhythmic Gymnastics. President Chang Kuo En presented the prize to the students to show approval of their honor. Gold medalist will receive 50,000, silver medalist will receive 30,000 and bronze medalist will receive 20,000.[ more ]

2017臺北世界大學運動會8月30日順利落幕，國立臺灣師範大學運動競技系與體育系參賽選手共摘下1金7銀4銅，更有6位教師出任教練，指導各代表隊選手奪牌。校長張國恩9月4日在金牌講堂頒贈總獎金46萬元，表揚師大學生為國爭光。 師大共有51位學生出戰本次世大運，在跆拳道、女子籃球、田徑、女子舉重、射箭、韻律體操等項目都勇奪佳績。校長張國恩肯定參賽學生傑出表現，盡力為自己創造最好成績，分別贈與金牌選手5萬元、銀牌選手3萬元、銅牌選手2萬元獎金。[ more ]

The 2017 Summer Universiade has begun in Taipei. Many NTNU students take part in the games and the stadium is one of the official venue. On August 21st, a group of International reporters visited NTNU. Vice President Wu Cheng Chih, Dean of College of Sports and Recreation, Chi Li Kang, Associate Vice President of the Office of International Affairs, Huang Chi Yo, Chairman Tan Tien-Chin of the Graduate Institute of Sport, Leisure and Hospitality, Chairman Lin Mei Chun of the Department of Physical Education and other professors welcomed the guests. Secretary Chen Tzu Show and Lin Ming Chun from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the group tour as well.[ more ]

2017世界大學運動會(以下簡稱”世大運')在臺北如火如荼地展開，產出多位體育健將的師大也不惶多讓，不僅許多學生參賽，體育館更是比賽場地之一。8月21日，世大運國際媒體記者團特別參訪師大，由吳正己副校長、運動與休閒學院季力康院長偕國際事務處黃啓祐副處長、運休所湯添進所長、體育系林玫君主任、卓俊伶教授與闕月清教授等師長一同迎接各國貴賓，外交部國際傳播司國外媒體科一等秘書陳紫秀、林銘泉也陪同媒體出席。 參訪中除向國際媒體介紹師大運休學院，包含5大學門簡介、研究成果、學生未來發展外，也展示了師大在體育領域的佳績，除培育許多優良選手外，更在全球首份針對運動科學與體育領域所進行的世界大學評比中名列全球第4，超越南韓首爾大學、澳洲雪梨大學等國際知名大學。此佳績也讓現場國際媒體驚嘆連連。[ more ]
