Researchers at NTNU's Applied Electronics Department have developed a new surveillance robot that can boldly tread where no robot has tread before. The machine, which operates on four caterpillar tracks, can carry out automatic patrols and has no problem overcoming even a steep set of stairs.   The robot, called NTNU CIR-I, is designed to compliment humans and other security equipment. By roving around, it can reach areas that security cameras fail to see while its human counterparts patrol other locations or monitor its progress remotely.[ more ]

機器人研發愈來愈精密，國立臺灣師範大學研發出新型「日夜間履帶式機器人」，不但能在晚上自動巡邏，即時偵測異常環境，就算遇到陡峭樓梯，也能輕鬆爬往各樓層，只要透過電腦或手機上網，在遠地就可監看異狀，已有化學工廠洽談這套系統，預計運用於爬樓梯巡邏廠房各樓層，也彌補夜間保全人力不足。[ more ]

NTNU's English Department is making a name for itself globally thanks to its biannual journal, Concentric: Literary and Cultural Studies. The journal has been selected for indexing in the renowned Arts and Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI), which covers over 1,300 arts and humanities journals across the world.[ more ]

National Taiwan Normal University had the honor of hosting this year's International Association of Chinese Linguistics annual conference for the first time in seven years. The event brought together top linguists researching the Chinese language from across the globe for three days of academic discussion which wrapped up on June 9. [ more ]

Teachers from the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (新加坡華文教研中心) wrapped up a four-day crash course on teaching methods Thursday offered by National Taiwan Normal University's Chinese Department. The course focused on pragmatic teaching methods, assessment, and multimedia teaching materials, among other topics.[ more ]

NTNU received a special visitor last Friday, when Hungarian Olympic champion Berki Krisztián made the school his first stop on a visit Taiwan. Berki, who grabbed the gold in the pommel horse category of the 2012 London Olympics, is in the country at the invitation of the Chinese Taipei Gymnastics Association and the Sports Administration.[ more ]
