Vice President of NTNU Yung-hsiang Frank Ying led a delegation to the United States recently, visiting Purdue University (QS ranking 129th), Pennsylvania State University (QS ranking 93rd), University of California, Santa Barbara (THE ranking 64th). NTNU has met with Purdue University in regards to partner universities and Taiwan Huayu BEST Program; deepened collaboration as strategic partners and held the workshop under the Taiwan Huayu BEST Program at Penn State University; and met with the principal and Chinese teachers at the University of California, Santa Barbara. This trip not only promotes the exchanges between NTNU and well-known universities in the United States, it is also a great opportunity to reinforce our strategic partnerships and expand the Taiwan Huayu BEST Program.

國立臺灣師範大學副校長印永翔日前率團訪美,造訪美國普渡大學(QS排名第129名)、賓州州立大學(QS排名第93名)、加州大學聖塔芭芭拉校區(THE排名第64名)等三所世界頂尖大學。其中與普渡大學洽談建立姊妹校以及華語合作,於賓州州立大學深化策略姊妹校交流及舉辦優華語工作坊,在加州大學聖塔芭芭拉校區與校長及華師會晤。此行除促進臺師大與美國知名學府的交流,也藉此拓展優華語計畫及強化策略夥伴關係。

Cultivating students' global thinking, enhancing international mobility and learning is one of the key projects of National Taiwan Normal University in promoting internationalization. With the powerful trend of globalization, 'transnational education' is booming among higher education institutions around the world. Although traditional student and teacher exchange abroad, distance teaching are still the mainstream of transnational education, under the influence of increasingly fierce competition in higher education, low birth rate, and the pandemic, transnational education is undergoing unprecedented changes and innovation.[ more ]

National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology are top universities in Taiwan as comprehensive, educational, and technical vocational universities respectively. In March 2016, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of“National Taiwan University System”as an alliance in order to integrate, share resources, strengthen teaching and research, expand services to the society with the goal to become the world's top university system.[ more ]

The First Tenured Asian Woman Professor at Caltech, Prof. Nai-Chang Yeh Shines in the World of Physics

The first tenured woman professor in physics and also the first tenured Asian woman professor at Caltech, Prof. Nai-Chang Yeh was granted the Yushan Scholar Program by the Ministry of Education in year 2021. Prof. Yeh was invited to teach at NTNU and she started the lessons in Taiwan in July. Born in 1961 and grew up in Chiayi, Taiwan, Prof. Yeh set her life goal at age 12 and went to the US for graduate education and obtained her Ph.D. in physics in 1988 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Around 600 manuscripts and artworks donated by Gao Xingjian (高行健), Nobel Prize laureate in Literature in 2000, will be displayed from Wednesday to Dec. 18 at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), according to the university.

首位諾貝爾文學獎華人得主高行健,將600多件手稿、文獻捐贈給國立臺灣師範大學,並為「高行健捐贈手稿文獻展」預錄影像表示,臺灣現今已成為他的故鄉,臺師大為他所做的一切,彷彿是他所就讀的大學,這不僅是他的榮耀,也讓他感到無比親切。他更希望在有生之年,呼喚新一輪文藝復興。

The Asia Pacific Association for Teacher Education (APATE) and the Taiwan Education Alliance convened a conference on "Educational Innovation and Teacher Education in the New Normal" on November 18-19, 2022.With the keynote speakers and panelists invited from approximately ten countries," attendees exchanged ideas and explored pandemic-related issues concerning the development of teacher education systems, teaching, and research in and across different cultural contexts.[ more ]

Christmas is around the corner. In order to connect international students and foster cultural exchanges, the Office of International Affairs of NTNU hosted Christmas tree making activities on December 13 and 14. Over 100 teachers and students enrolled for the DIY event and the campus is full of Christmas elements and festive atmosphere.[ more ]

Lunar New Year is the most important time for a family reunion to the Chinese people. In order to let overseas students further understand the cultural customs of Chinese New Year and experience the local culture, the Office of International Affairs of NTNU in collaboration with the International Youth Service Team, held a Chinese New Year Party for International Students on December 7th. 過年對華人來說是最重要的團圓節日,為使境外生進一步了解中華春節文化習俗,體驗在地文化特色,國立臺灣師範大學國際事務處協同國際青年服務隊,於12月7日舉辦餐會,設計一連串春節活動,透過桌菜形式營造圍爐氣氛,使境外生雖身處他鄉,也能感染熱鬧氣氛,一解思鄉之情。

With the rapid development of facial recognition technology, the relationship between chang-es in our facial expressions and science learning is gradually being revealed and proven. Utilizing a facial expression analysis software (FaceReader) from the Netherlands, Distinguished Professor Mei-Hung Chiu of the Graduate Institute of Science Education at National Taiwan Normal Uni-versity and her collaborators have attempted to analyze the facial expressions high school and uni-versity students show as they undergo conceptual change during science learning. 隨著人臉辨識科技的快速發展,人們臉部表情改變與科學學習之間的關係逐漸被發現與證實。在國科會長期支持下,國立臺灣師範大學科學教育研究所邱美虹特聘教授,運用荷蘭臉部辨識與表情分析軟體(FaceReader),嘗試分析我國高中生與大學生在進行科學教育經歷概念改變時,會表現出幾種表情,藉此探究學生學習進程,並且幫助教師及時調整教學方法,讓科學教育更貼近學生需求。[ more ]
