Bilingual Education Workshop at NTNU, for a Bilingual Country by 2030

In order to achieve the goal of Taiwan becoming a bilingual country by 2030, countries and city governments have begun to plan and implement bilingual courses in all levels of education, establish bilingual experimental schools, improve our people’s English proficiency through bilingual education and cultivate bilingual professionals. To strengthen the training of bilingual teachers, the Colleague of Teacher Education invited Dr. Keith M. Graham plans a series of in-school bilingual teacher training activities and cultivates the skills of bilingual curriculum planning and practice for pre-service teachers

The Bilingual education workshop by Dr. Graham was held in two days. On the first day, students discussed the definition of bilingual education theories and roles. Students with similar background talk in groups about lesson planning strategies. By facilitating classroom Interaction, they have built a concept of bilingual teaching in limited time. On the second day, they demonstrated microteaching lesson plan in groups. Dr. Graham lead the discussion afterwards on their presentation and content.

Dr. Keith M. Graham is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the College of Teacher Education at National Taiwan Normal University. He holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education degree in International Literacy from Sam Houston State University. His research interests include Content and Language Integrated Learning, English Medium Instruction, Bilingual Education, and Second Language Literacy. In the future, the Colleague of Teacher Education will keep pushing on related events in order to equip students with useful knowledge in bilingual teaching.
