During a two-day visit to the Graduate School of Science in October 2025, the two institutions confirmed a series of new initiatives that will deepen academic cooperation, including the launch of a joint Ph.D. program, coordinated student exchange and research training pathways, collaborative beamline proposals at SPring-8 and SACLA, and the development of lab-to-lab research platforms. | A research group led by Professors Yen-Wen Lan and Ting-Hua Lu of the Department of Physics, in collaboration with PhD student Yeh-Ru Chen, master’s student Po-Wen Wang, and postdoctoral researcher Wen-Hao Chang, has published new findings in the October 2025 issue of Science Advances. The article, titled “Orbital angular momentum–driven multistate photomemory,” presents a method for achieving multilevel photomemory utilizing the orbital angular momentum (OAM) of light. This work marks a departure from the binary constraints of conventional optical memory and establishes the angular momentum of light as a viable and independent parameter for information storage and control.more |

How Comments Can Make or Break Your Crowdfunding Campaign |

| With the rise of internet financing, crowdfunding has become an important channel for many small and medium-sized enterprises and individual entrepreneurs to obtain funding. However, the common “all-or-nothing” outcome of crowdfunding campaigns is often a painful hurdle for entrepreneurs. Professor Yen-Chun Jim Wu from National Taiwan Normal University’s Graduate Institute of Global Business and Strategy used algorithms to conduct sentiment analysis on campaign comments made before and after fundraising. His research explored the predictive power of online comments for crowdfunding outcomes. The findings show that incorporating early-stage comments during a campaign can significantly increase the likelihood of crowdfunding success.more |

| NTNU launched a two-week summer program on Semiconductors and Artificial Intelligence, bringing 28 students from Kumamoto University and Prefectural University of Kumamoto to Taiwan for intensive study. Co-taught by NTNU’s College of Science and College of Technology and Engineering, the program combined lectures on semiconductor fundamentals, circuit design, and AIoT applications with company visits to TSMC and ACEBiotek.
