| Prof. Jacky Baltes of the Department of Electrical Engineering, also the chairman of Engineering Federation of International RoboSports Association, FIRA, handed out the certificate of membership and flag to the Ministry of Science and Technology and complete the ceremony with Minister Chen Liang Gee, and Director-General of Central Taiwan Science Park Dr. Chen Ming Huang, meaning the FIRA World Cup is now officially started. Pre Service Teachers Went to HKU for Exchange Traineeship |

| NTNU has been promoting the program of sending pre-service teachers abroad for short-term traineeship since 2014. Until 2017, NTNU has sent 54 pre-service teachers to Japan, Singapore, China, Myanmar and Canada. They can earn valuable experience by visiting other schools, know about the coursed of various countries and how they do it in classrooms, and gain a global vision as well as international mobility. more |

| On March 29th, President of Simon Fraser University Andrew Petter and administrators came to NTNU to meet with President Wu Cheng Chih for re-signing the MOU. Yu Ai-wen Wins at World Shooting Sport Championship 2018 |

| Junior student from the Department of Athletic Performance, Yu Ai-wen, received gold in the women's 10-meter air pistol event of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) World Shooting Sport Championship by a total of 237.6 points. This is her first gold in a International competition. She returned to Taiwan on March 19th. Her first coach, Kuo His Chung, Chair of Department of Athlete Performance Yu Chih Ying, Chair of Athletic Department Wang Ho Sen all went to the airport to welcome her home. more |

The 1st National Taiwan Normal University and Uppsala University Symposium on Computing Education, held by the Department of Computing and Engineering Education, Uppsala University and Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education, was held on March 16th to 17th. Professors from Sweden and Taiwan discussed about education on information and computer engineering.

| Wen Tzu Yun, from Department of Physical Education, defeated the Gold winner of last year Tuba Yakan by 3:1 on March 18th on European Championships held in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This was her first gold award this year and she moved a huge step closer to the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

| The Chinese Taipei Tug-of-War Team, consists of athletes from Jingmei High School and NTNU, did well at the championship at 2018 TWIF Indoor Championship. The team grabbed 3 gold and 1 silver and bring honor to their school. 2018 TWIF Indoor Championship was held in Xuzhou, Jiangsu on March 8th. Vice President of Office of Student Affairs Chang Shao Hsi led the team to China.more |

| Quacquarelli Symonds has announced the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018 on February 28th. More than ever before, this year's ranking features 48 different subjects. "Classics and Ancient History" and "Library and Information Management" are added this year. In the subject of Library and Information Management, NTNU is ranked 29th globally.

NTNU Becomes First IB School for Teacher's Education in Taiwan |

| NTNU is proud to receive the first IB certificate for teacher education program in Taiwan. For decades, NTNU has been the leader of teacher's education in Taiwan. After the establishment of College of Teacher Education in August 2017, the consultant visitors of IB recommended NTNU to be the first IB school for teacher education program in Taiwan this January. NTNU Signs MOU with Kyushu University for Exchange Opportunities |

The College of Science of NTNU signed an agreement on academic collaboration last December and the activities will start this year. Both sides provide five spots for exchange students and take turns on holding academic seminars. President Chiharu Kubo came to NTNU on January 7th this year and made some further discussion about the academic exchange, all-English course, Taiwan Study lecture and so on, for a beneficiary outcome for both universities.

Alumni, retired professor from National Tsing Hua University Fan Siang Bin received the Lifetime Achievement Award of Arts Education Contribution Award. | The alumna from the Master Program of the Department of Adult and Continuing Education, CEO of Good Food Enterprise Co Viola Cheng, just received the Stevie Awards for Women as Business in Startup of the Year- Gold Stevie Winner and Young Female Entrepreneur- Silver Stevie Winner. Aja Huang, the AlaphaGo Project Member Talks on Campus |

| Have you heard of AlphaGo? It is the computer program that defeated the world champion in 2016. The pusher, Aja Huang, senior researcher at DeepMind, is from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, NTNU. On Dec. 27th, Aja Huang came back to NTNU and met with President Chang Kuo En and his professors. Later, Aja shared his experience with NTNU students at Gongguan campus.

NTNU Alumni Yang Su Han Tops the First Prize at International Competition for Conductors |

| Su-Han Yang, a 28-year-old youth conductor and alumni of NTNU, received the first prize at the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors on November 25th. He is the first Taiwanese that receive an award in that competition. In addition to 250,000 euro, invitations from lots of International orchestras awaits the award-winning conductor. Students and professor of the Department of Music, NTNU are happy for him. Yang is grateful that Prof. Apo Chin-Hsing Hsu led him to become a conductor. more |
