| Prof. Liao Ping Hui is a Professor of Literary and Critical Studies and Chuan Lyu Endowed Chair in Taiwan Studies, UC San Diego. He is also a chair professor at the Department of Chinese as a Second Language. Recently, he came back to Taiwan and visited President Wu Cheng Chih, Vice President Sung Yao Ting, Ying Yung Hsiang with the accompany of Prof. Chien Ying Ying. Taiwan Got 6 Golds and 1 Bronze at 2018 Tug of War International Federation Outdoor Club Championships |

| The women's tug of war team, composed of teammates of National Taiwan Normal University and students from Taipei Jingmei Girls Highs School, went to Cape Town, South Africa in September for the 2018 Tug of War International Federation Outdoor Club Championships. They have grabbed 6 golds, 1 bronze and kept the 500-kg title for 5 consecutive years; they also triumphed in the under-23 500-kilogram event and senior 540-kg weight class for two years in a row.

An Oversea Apprenticeship in Sweden |

| National Taiwan Normal University has been given the fund for foreign education apprenticeship course and educational internship program by the Ministry of Education in the year of 2017. Under the support of the Office of Teacher Education and Careers Service, Associate Professor Lin Tzu Bin organized the program of "Flying to Northern Europe: apprenticeship program in Sweden". Five pre-service teachers were selected among applicants from different departments and went to Uppsala, Sweden for a two-week oversea apprenticeship program. more |

| National Taiwan Normal University has been given the fund for foreign education apprenticeship course and the educational internship program by the Ministry of Education. The Department of Special Education has selected 8 pre-service teachers, led by Prof. Yu Hsiao Ping, for a two-week visit for gifted education Kamnoetvidya Academy of Sciences (KVIS) and the 2018 Asia Pacific Conference on Giftedness in mid-August in Thailand. Those students, coming from different departments like English, Chemistry, Science, Special Education, have all taken gifted education courses.

Chinese Taipei men's volleyball team Won First Bronze in 20 years |

| The Chinese Taipei men's volleyball team is mostly made up of students and alumni of the Department of Athletic Performance. In a total of 14 players, 9 have studied at NTNU. On September 1, the team played a great game against Qatar and get the bronze medal by 3 to 1. This is our first medal in 20 years since the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. The players were so excited after the game. more |

Yang Yi Chen, an alumna of the Department of Athletic Performance, joins Filottrano LARDINI, which belongs to Italian Women's Volleyball League Serie A1. She is the first female athlete from Taiwan that plays at the national league in Italy. LARDINI has 47 years of history. The men who made Yang's women's national volleyball team is Federica Rampazzo, a former coach for Lardini Filottrano. He is also the key figure that assisted Pei-Hung Huang the setter to join Latina last year.more |

Alumna Shu-mei Shih Receives Outstanding Alumni Award Becomes Chair Professor |

| Prof. Shu-Mei Shih, graduated from the Department of English in 1982, now a Professor in Department of Comparative Literature of UCLA, is elected as the 18th outstanding alumni and also chair professor at the Department of Taiwan Culture, Language and Literature. She went back to NTNU on August 14th to receive the award from President Wu Cheng Chih. Vice President Ying Yung Hsiang, professors from College of Liberal Arts, English Department and the Department of Taiwan Culture, Language and Literature all came for this awarding ceremony.more |

MOU Renewal of NTNU and Paris Diderot University |

| On July 13th, President Wu Cheng Chih led a delegation to the Paris Diderot University for renewing the MOU of sister school. President Wu signed the MOU with President Christine Clerici. The bonding of the two universities begun in 2008. In 2012, they become sister schools. For the past seven years, 76 exchange students have been sent from both sides. To deepen the relationship, NTNU will encourage students to go to Paris Diderot University. Those who are interested can also start from short-term summer school and get familiar with the French learning environment. Full English course are also available, or one can go for Chinese teaching internship in France.

After winning the first silver at gymnastic at Asian Games on August 23rd, TANG Chia Hung, a student of Department of Athletic Performance, won the second gold medal for Taiwan with 14.725 points. It's the first gold medal at horizental bar. Tang is the biggest winner in the filed with one silver and one gold.

In the women's team taekwondo poomsae event at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, the team of Taiwan of Lin Kan Yu, Chen Yi Hsuan and Chen Hsiang Ting, brought us a bronze in the match with the Thai at the semi-final. After the game, Lin said that "We sure wanted to have high scores, but after we defeated the opponent, we told ourselves to do our best and we have got the medal!"more |

| The Shooting game of Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games was held on August 19th. Lin Ying Shin, from the Department of Athletic Performance and her partner Lu Shao Chuan won the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team, beating China, India and South Korea. A record-breaking 494.1 points brought Taiwan the first gold medal from this year's Asian Games.more |

The opening ceremony of "Three For One Course", which is the first cooperation between the three universities, was hosted by Vice President's representatively. | This year, NTNU was ranked the first in 50 universities in the category of Humanities, Law and Business in a research done by GV Monthly magazine. When it comes to academic achievement, NTNU has contributed the most research paper written in Chinese among Taiwan universities. On average, one faculty write almost 2.5 paper, which is significantly high compared to others. | The National Archaeological Museum, Naples (MANN) started a technological art project "Mann in colors" with Prof. Hsu Ho Chieh of the Department Of Design in March 2018. The research team studies ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, using multi-spectral (ultraviolet, infrared spectrometer, infrared false-color image) and chemical investigation (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy) and other scientific identification methods to find out various color of ancient sculptures and establish the first database of ancient sculpture color.

| Members of AIT and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) held a press conference today to commend the great progress made by a group of Hualien students learning English. This project, led by Fulbright alumni at National Taiwan Normal University, was one of 68 projects selected out of 1,014 project submissions from around the world and the only one from Taiwan. About 20 junior high school students who barely knew the English alphabets had made a tremendous progress and could order in English, sing English songs and become more confident using them. more |
