Master of Cooperate Identity Nakanishi Motoo Talks About Design Management |

The Department of Design, the Design Alliance Asia, the National Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprise, jointly hosted the "Master of CI in Japan- Nakanishi Motoo" on December 6th. Nakanishi Motoo, the guru of corporate identity and brand planning was invited to Taiwan to share his rich experience in corporate identity (CI).
Motoo Nakanishi has a profound experience of more than 60 years in CI in Japan. Famous Japanese companies and classic brands such as MAZDA, ASICS, KENWOOD, NTT, DoCoMo, Kirin Beer, Bridgestone, INAX, Matsuya Ginza, NISSAN, ITOCHU Corporation. Japanese news, Japanese steel, and Japanese life insurance are all examples of his work.more |

Training Teachers for Bilingual Education for IB Schools Worldwide |

| Recently, education has been affected greatly by the trend of globalization. "Bilingual education" has also become an important issue in Taiwan’s education. From Taiwan to abroad, the demand for international teachers is growing. As a leader in the cultivation of teachers in Taiwan, NTNU spares no effort in cultivating educational talents. With a rigorous teacher training system that has been practiced for years, combined with the spirit of International Baccalaureate (IB), we expect to nurture excellent bilingual teachers to bring the education in Taiwan towards a new direction. NTNU was authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization in January 2018 as the first IB school for teacher's education in Taiwan. | Chen You Ren, an alumna of the Department Of Design, class 2017, was granted a full scholarship from the MOE Scholarship Program for Oversea Study of Arts and Design and study at Parsons the New School of Design. In 2017, the MOE Scholarship Program for Oversea Study of Arts and Design sent 18 students to 9 countries, 16 institutes for further study and practicum. more |

Steven Chang is a famous drummer in Taiwan. Now a director of 32nd music, an institute of jazz drum. He has played for numerous superstars like Fei Yu-ching, Tsai Chin and Fong Fei-fei. He started to come to his year, he started his in-service master program for Pop Music. He is enlisted in the Pearl Anniversary Edition of Who's Who in the World as a drummer. more |

Alumna Le Keng Tops at Two International Vocal Contests |

Alumna, Soprano, Le Keng, graduated in 2008, received two first prizes at International Vocal Contests. The first one is the International Vocal Competition at Ningbo in October and now she gained the first prize, the best singer for Dvorak piece and the best Baroque music singer at the 53rd International Antonin Dvorak Singing Competition at Karlovy Vary. Le Keng's interpretation of Rusalka amazed the audience. When presenting the award, Dvorak's nephew praised that if there's Rusalka in the real world, it must be like this!
She also got the chance to play the leading roles of Un ballo in maschera and Aida by Verdi. She said that she faces tremendous pressure when joining competitions when there's many outstanding vocalist out there, but all the hard work paid off when she was praised by the nephew of Dvorak. Le Keng says that it's defiantly hard for Taiwanese singers to find a career Europe. It's very competitive and challenging in singing a well as in language. For example, she was appointed to sing in Czech after she received the prize. She has to find a tutor to correct her pronunciation. more |

| Outstanding Alumna of NTNTU, Prof. Nancy Rao, Head of the Music Theory Department, was presented with the Music in American Culture Award for her book Chinatown Opera Theatre in North America: The transformation of Chinese Music into American Music in the Early Twentieth Century (University of Illinois Press, 2017). This award is to recognize her achievement personally but also the major contribution the Chinese American has to the society and culture in the states. NTNU students and teachers shared this good news and President Wu praised Rao for her accomplishment academically in the field of music. more |

| The International Cultural Day can be dated back to the school anniversary event. Many alumni would come back to visit their teachers and friends. Director of Overseas Students Preliminaries Hong Ren Jin hosted the opening ceremony. President Liu Hsiang Lin from the Office of International Affairs and Principal of National Overseas Chinese Senior High School were invited to the event. In the Humanoid Application Challenge, known as the indicator of the development of the next generation of robots, Prof. Jacky Baltes, Prof. Chen-Chien James Hsu and Prof. Wang Wei Yen from the Department of Electrical Engineering lead a team and received the champion.

| Charles Hopkins, who holds the UNESCO Chair in Reorienting Education towards Sustainability at York University in Toronto, Canada, and Prof. Irina Safitri Zen at Sustainability, Faculty of Built Environment, University Teknologi Malaysia visited NTNU on October 9th. Among 7 awardees, there are two alumni from NTNU. One is Choong Kam Kow in the field of Art and Tan Chee Lay in the academic field.
