Lei Chien Ying Won Two Gold at World Archery Championships |

Lei Chien Ying, a PhD student at NTNU and national archer, defeated South Korea by 6:2 on June 16th. It's the first-ever individual world championship of female archery for Taiwan. Later, she matched with world record holder Kang Chae Young from South Korea. It was a 5:5 game and with extended shots, Lei won by 9:7. Dean Chi Li Kang of the College of Sports & Recreation, Wang Ho Seng, Director Lin Mei Chung went the airport and welcome Lei Chien Ying and Wei Chun Heng. more |

| On May 29th, Chair Professor Gareth Williams gave a talk, organized by the Center for General Education, at the auditorium with Associate Director of University Committee on Asia & the Middle East (UCAME) at Columbia University Rachel Chung and Associate Professor Daniel Hu at Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation. Prof. Williams shared some examples in Greek and Roman mythology including Cicero, Aeneid, Ovid and Pietro Bembo to support his ideas of finding similarity in different literature to create connection. more |

The visit of oversea Taiwan school is hosted by the Office of Teacher Education and Career Service. The 2019 pre-service teachers' visit was organized by Assistant Professor Kao Sung Ching. Two students, one from the Department of Civic Education and Leadership and another from Department of Social Education were sent to Jakarta, Indonesia for a two-week visit. more |

Lei Chien Ying Won a Gold at 2019 Archery World Cup with Teammates |

Lei Chien Ying, an athlete at the Department of Athletic Performance and teammate Tan Ya Ting, Peng Chia Mao defeated the Mexican by 5:1 and won the gold of the recurve women's team at Archery World Cup. This is a good start for the World Archery Championship in June and possibly the ticket for 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

| The sister schools of NTNU are located around the world. Vice-rector of the University of Warsaw. Warsaw Prof. Maciej Duszczyk came to NTNU on April 26th with administrators and signed an MOU. According to Prof. Maciej Duszczyk, now we focus on Chinese teaching, in the future, the cooperation may be expanded to the College of Science, the College of Education. Executive Vice President Sung Yao Ting, Associate Vice President Liu Yi De, Executive Director at the Steering Committee for the Test of Proficiency-Huayu Chen Bou Hsi, Director of the Department of Chinese as a Second Language Chen Jenn Yeu, Associate Director of the MTC Tu Chao Mei welcomed the guests from Poland.

| In the 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage II, Wei Chun Heng, a student of the Department of Athletic Performance worked with his teammate at Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games, beat Turkey, 5-1. The men’s recurve team won the gold medal and the women’s recurve team brought back bronze medal. more |

| The 35th Hair & Makeup Trends was held in Manila on April 23rd. More than 100 contestants from Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Australia, Vietnam, China, Philippines gathered for all sorts of beauty techniques like hairdressing, nail art and styling. This year, 15 Taiwanese joined the competition. Amy Yeh, a student at GF-EMBA and a styling Director at Winmake Styling Company, won five medals, including barbie doll, mask makeup, making her the individual overall champion. more |

NTNU and Penn State University announce collaborations for 2019 |

| National Taiwan Normal University and Pennsylvania State University became sister school in 1998. The Collaboration Development Fund Request for Proposals started last year for strategic Partnership. After closely reviewed, seven projects were chosen for funding, in a variety of disciplines, from math education to geosciences to information sciences and technology. The seven awardees will start their cooperation with professors in Penn State university. They would be funded by the two schools for travel and business expenses. | Huang Hsin Chien, a new media creator and Professor at the Department of Design, is invited to the Directors' Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival. Artistic Director Paolo Moretti invited Huang to the Directors' Fortnight and this is the first complete and solo exhibition of Huang and Laurie Anderson, the avant-garde musician after their four years of cooperation on VR exhibition. La Camera Insabbiata/ Chalkroom, which received the Best VR Experience Award at Venice Film Festival will be presented with the two latest works, "To the Moon" and "Aloft". The Initiative Conference, co-organized by National Taiwan Normal University and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), was held at UCLA from April 12 to 13. The theme of the conference was "Sinophone Studies：Interdisciplinary Perspectives and Critical Reflections" During the two-day conference, a total of 48 scholars from Taiwan, the United States, Germany, France, Australia, Italy, South Korea, Vietnam and Hong Kong published papers. More than 100 academics attended the conference, making it a major event for Chinese language studies.

In 2019, the National Taiwan Normal University expanded its program of oversea visit. Outstanding pre-service students were selected and sent to 11 countries and regions to observe and teach in many middle schools. This year, we continue to work with Uppsala University. Assistant Professor Chen Hsin Heng from the College of Teacher Education helped with the training and lead five students to Uppsala from March 25th to April 7th. This year, the students were assigned to different schools according to their expertise. They have taught about Taiwanese culture, calligraphy writing and made pearl milk tea. The students enjoy the classes very much.more |

They grew at a very high speed when they are in infancy. It's a key phase affecting their future development. The government in many countries have invested in building a longitudinal database for child. Hence, the Ministry of Science and Technology started to assist the Department of Human Development and Family Studies with the plan of building National longitudinal Study of Child Development and Care in August, 2014 and the data collection started in March of 2016. more |
