National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) marked a significant milestone in its commitment to international collaboration by sending a historic delegation of twenty representatives to Vietnam. Led by Executive Vice President Yao-Ting Sung, the delegation visited various educational institutions in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi from December 6th to December 12th, 2023, fostering academic exchanges and expanding collaborative initiatives.
This delegation follows NTNU's earlier visit to seven universities in Hue and Danang, Vietnam, in February 2023. NTNU has been actively participating in Vietnam's educational landscape since 2016, emphasizing the deep-rooted interest in fostering educational cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam.
The 20-member delegation, the largest in NTNU's history, included representatives from the College of Education, led by Dean Hsiu-Lan Shelley Tien, the College of Science, led by Dean Jein-Shan Chen and the Vice Dean Li-Hsing Liu from College of Technology and Engineering. The delegation visited high schools such as Ngo Quyen High School in Dong Nai Province, Taipei School in Ho Chi Minh City, and Lawrence S. Ting Memorial High School. Additionally, they explored partnerships with seven universities, including Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City-University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City- University of Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Vietnam National University - University of Education, Vietnam National University - University of Sciences, Hanoi National University of Education and University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation also shared a dinner with NTNU Vietnamese alumni, fostering connections. During the meal, there was frequent interaction, and plans were made to meet again in the future.
One of the unique aspects of this visit was the inclusion of visits to Taiwanese companies in Vietnam, such as GPMI Global Power Co., Ltd., VPIC Precision Industry Co., Ltd., and Sheng Bang Metal Co., Ltd., providing students with valuable insights into internship opportunities.
During visits to local high schools, the delegation introduced NTNU and highlighted the scholarships offered by NTNU and Taiwanese government. The interactive sessions between NTNU representatives and high school students aimed to provide clarity on university courses and inspire students to pursue higher education.
At the college level, the delegation signed MOU with two new sister schools, such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and the Vietnam National University - University of Education. Collaboration Agreements were also signed with institutions like Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City- University of Sciences and University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City.

Through partnerships with Vietnamese institutions and businesses, NTNU aims to further enhance the educational experience for both Taiwanese and Vietnamese students.
