NTNU Delegation Visits Top Korean Universities for Benchmarking and Exchange

In a dedicated effort to promote international intercollegiate exchange and collaboration, NTNU Vice President Y.H. Frank Ying led a 11-member administrative delegation, including Associate Vice President for International Affairs Hsiu-Mei Hsieh, to engage with counterparts in Korea’s Hanyang University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Chung-Ang University from October 31 to November 4.

Benchmarking visits to universities abroad are a key component of NTNU's strategy to strengthen administrative functions and develop administrative personnel. The primary objectives of this visit were to establish channels for exchange and collaboration with leading international universities, with the aim of broadening the international perspectives and enhance the professional competencies of the administrative staff.

Vice President Ying emphasized that this initiative not only reinforces global collaboration and builds on existing partnerships with international universities, but also enriches the international perspectives of NTNU's administrative staff. Furthermore, the visit fosters intercollegiate cooperation and friendships, creating opportunities for shared learning.

During their stay in Korea, the NTNU delegation visited Hanyang University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Chung-Ang University. They were welcomed by Vice Presidents Hansung Kim of Hanyang University, Su-Han Woo of Chung-Ang University, and Hanjung Lee of Sungkyunkwan University. The delegation engaged in n-depth discussions with their counterparts, covering a range of topics, including campus internationalization, strategies for attracting qualified educators, international academic research collaboration, university administrative experiences, and the implementation of user-friendly information systems. These dialogues facilitated an exchange of insights in school administration and educational advancement.

Internationalization, interdisciplinary connections, and alumni networks form the cornerstone of NTNU's administrative development mission. This visit to prominent South Korean academic institutions embodies the essence of benchmarking and referencing from successful models. It also deepens NTNU's international exchanges with exceptional universities abroad, further exemplifying the value of international cooperation and knowledge sharing.
