2021 International Conference on Human Resource Development

The 2021 International Conference on Human Resource Development, organized by Graduate Institute of International Human Resource Development and College of International Studies and Social Science, National Taiwan Normal University, was held on October 22nd and 23rd. The topic is Human Resource Development in the Era of Multilingualism: Implications of Language Policies on Training and Development Practices”. It’s hoped that through communication and exchange, experts can share the progress in human resource area.

NTNU was selected by Ministry of Education as one of the four Key Cultivation Universities for Program on Bilingual Education this September. The Graduate Institute of International Human Resource Development is the first all English taught graduate institute in Taiwan that welcomes local and international students, an example for English as the medium of instruction (EMI) course. Due to the restriction of the pandemic, the organizer decided to have an online conference for the first time in 19 years, with experts from Germany, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and other places to discuss the topic. A total of 1 main speech, 3 keynote speech and 15 paper presentation were given at this conference.

Yi-Chun Jane Lin Director first welcomed the enthusiastic of the participants in her opening remarks, and she said that in face of globalization, the governments and institutions will meet the challenge of the training and management of people from all different background. The conference is a good opportunity to learn from other in order to improve the efficiency and development of human resource in Taiwan. Political Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Examination L Lee Lung Sheng gave the main speech about how the Ministry of Examination respond to the policy of bilingualism. The prospective discussion not only spurred more possibilities for Taiwan’s future language policy and implementation, but also clarified how people from all walks of life in Taiwan can benefit from this and promote Taiwan’s presence on the international stage with bilingual skills.
