The letter of intent between the National Taiwan Normal University and the operating unit of Taiwan Contemporary Culture Laboratory (C-LAB), Taiwan Living Arts Foundation. In the future, the two parties will combine software and hardware resources, share research, learning and production environments, and jointly promote the cooperation between different disciplinary of C-LAB and NTNU. The cooperation is a good example of art and cultural institutions and educational institutions to jointly create a cross-field learning program. National Taiwan Normal University will also launch a series of cooperation and exchanges of knowledge and technology with external institutions.
The press conference was held on December 29th. The first cooperation is the one of various departments and Taiwan Sound Lab. Since its founding in 2019, Taiwan Sound Lab has introduced the Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music from Le Centre Pompidou Institute as a platform of cross disciplinary cooperation.
NTNU shoulders the responsibility of internationalization, social influence, and inheritance innovation and actively promotes cross-domain integration and establishes industry-university bond. In addition to promoting the 'Computer Music and Audio Technology Program” with C-LAB Taiwan Sound Laboratory, NTNU will also participate in the C-LAB Good Vibration experimental creation project and the opening concert of the 2021 Diversonics Festival. The two parties hope that this cooperation will become an important driving force for Taiwan's contemporary art and cultural innovation.
According to President Wu, NTNU has remained a leading position in arts and humanity and we recognized the importance of cross disciplinary integration. Starting from this semester, students can double major in subjects they are interested in on a registration basis. C-LAB emphasis the integration of technology and art. With the cooperation, both parties can share resources. Executive Director of C-LAB Lai Hsiang Ling said that by working with educational institution, more students can learn about sound art.
Regarding to the computer music and audio technology program, the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, the Department of Music and the C-LAB Taiwan Sound Laboratory will provide teaching and research resources and professional equipment to provide students with knowledge of information engineering, computer science, and cross-disciplinary research ability in music and practical experience. This program is available in all students in NTU System.
