The Fourth Taiwan Piano Festival to be Held in 2020

The fourth Taiwan Piano Festival will be held from February 4th to 18th in Taipei along with the first Competition of Taiwan Piano Festival. Associate Professor Yen Chun Chieh, the art director of the festival organized master class, master concert and piano competition with more than 20 Taiwan and international pianists. The registration is opened to all youth pianists until December 1st.
The first Taiwan Piano Festival was held in 2017 and have gained reputation in Asia Pacific. Art Director Yen said that this is a platform for Taiwanese young musicians to be seen internationally. The
The venue of the fourth Taiwan Piano Festival are National Concert Hall, Recital Hall and classrooms at Music Department of NTNU. The organizer will select 100 students and 32 future stars who will be performing with Taipei Symphony Orchestra. Master classes are also available during the festival, each student can be taught by three foreign, three domestic teachers. On February 6th, there's a concert of masters and on February 8th, there will be a recital of pianist Pascal Rogé.
The Competition will take place in National Concert Hall from February 11th to 17th. 36 semi-finalists will be selected according to their videos submitted and played during 12th to 14th. The top four finalists will have to play with NSO for Piano Concerto. The winners will be awarded USD 5,000 , USD 3,000 and USD 2,000 accordingly.
According to the organizer, the judges are Queen Elizabeth Music Competition winner Abdel Rahman El Bacha, President of the Cleveland International Piano Competition Yaron Kohlberg, Artistic Diretor of Sta Cecilia International Competition (SCIC) Álvaro Teixeira Lopes. The list of pianists include French pianist Pascal Rogé, fourth prize winner of the 6th International Chopin Piano Competition Li Ming Qiang, Korean pianist Hee-Sung Joo, Jerome Lowenthal from the Julliard and Bernd Goetzke from Hanover University of Music and Drama. Other notable professors include former Professor Myong-joo Lee at the Colburn Music Academy, Andreas Frölich, Lina Yeh, Rolf-Peter Wille, Grace Chung and Chia-Wei Chung.
