Junior student from the Department of Athletic Performance, Yu Ai-wen, received gold in the women's 10-meter air pistol event of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) World Shooting Sport Championship by a total of 237.6 points. This is her first gold in a International competition. She returned to Taiwan on March 19th. Her first coach, Kuo His Chung, Chair of Department of Athlete Performance Yu Chih Ying, Chair of Athletic Department Wang Ho Sen all went to the airport to welcome her home.
International University Sports Federation (FISU) World Shooting Sport Championship was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malasia on March 14th. Yu Ai-wen and Yang Kun-pi attended the event. The 10 metre air pistol is an Olympic shooting event governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation. The game consists of 60 shots within 75 minutes for men, and 40 shots within 50 minutes for women.
Yu said that in the final game, she has been trailing. It was to her surprise that she could get her first gold in International competition.
When talking about the final game, Yu said that in the last tournament, her skills and mindset were not good enough. This time, she has overcome the disadvantages. Yu said that she has been to several International games, the one in Rio de Janeiro is especially memorable. These experiences are helpful in that she can keep calm in the game.
After winning, Yu thanked her coach and support she got from teachers from Department of Athlete Performance. She also expressed her gratitude to the leader Coach Chang Wen Yu, who gave her reminder and encouragement before the game. She could set up a goal in the game.
Yu is now a junior student at NTNU. She will attend the world game in Korea and the states in April and May. Yu said that these are part of her preparation for Asian games in 2018.
