Times Higher Education has announced the latest World University Rankings 2018 by subject: education. National Taiwan Normal University is ranked 22nd in the world and 3rd in Asia. This is another ranking, after QS Rankings by Subject announced this March, revels that NTNU is at a leading position in education.
The 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ table for education subjects employs the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields. It highlights the universities that are leading across education, teacher training, and academic studies in education subjects.
Times Higher Education has announced the latest World University Rankings 2018 by different subjects recently. In September, the rankings of arts and humanities. Only two universities in Taiwan made to the list of top 400 universities. National Taiwan Normal University is ranked 176-200 while National Taiwan University is ranked 126-150. NTNU is ranked 22nd internationally and 3rd in Asia, only after Hong Kong University (3rd) and Hong Kong Chinese University (20th). In social science, NTNU is ranked 201~250.
In respond to this, President Chang Kuo-en stated that the ranking is only a part of the mission of the school. In the future, NTNU will continue to strive to achieve even higher levels of educational and academic excellence and establish the finest campus environment for learning and research. For the benefit of society, NTNU will continue to cultivate leading talent and improve the construction of campus.
NTNU has been in top 50 for the past five years in education, according to QS Ranking. To be specific about different subjects, Times Higher Education has evaluated in more subjects individually like education and law, which were under the category of social science.
President Chang said that education has become an individual study of research and this is the current trend. Education research has become recognized by governments and evidence-based education is one of the most valued approach.
