On the 5th of December, the ceremony of the third Art Education Contribution Prize was held. Chair Prof. Liao Shiou Ping, the father of printmaking, and Prof. Ann CS Kuo, received the honorary award. Prof. Lin Shu-Cheng from the Graduate Institute of Performing Arts received the excellent teacher award.
For the third year in a row, the Ministry of Education has been running the 'Art Education Contribution Award' for contribution to the recognition and appreciation of arts educators and workers. Awards such as the honorary award, best performance group, best performance school, excellent teacher award were given to correspondents. Minister of Education Pan Wen Chung went to the ceremony and greeted many award winners.
Prof. Liao Shiou Ping, the receiver of the honorary award, has studied in Paris for learning printmaking for many years. His works carries synonyms and religious meanings. He has taught many printmaking masters in NTNU. Being a modest person, Prof. Liao said that he simply wanted to teach what he has learned abroad to students so that young people who are interested in printmaking could learn from him.
Prof. Ann CS Kuo, also teaches in Fine Arts Department of NTNU, has devoted herself into art education for more than half a century. The most well-known performance of Dr. Kuo is that she became the first Chinese female chairperson o INSEA in 2005. She is not only the pioneer of the art education of Taiwan but also linked Taiwan to the world. Dr. Kuo is now living in the states and couldn’t come to the ceremony herself because of her medical issues. Her siblings received the award for her.
Prof. Lin Shu-Cheng was given the best teacher award. She has taught in NTNU for 40 years and is frequently invited to be judges of international contests. What’s more, she is the founder of the Graduate Institute of Performing Arts, which is the only original musical department in public universities in Taiwan.
