講題:Norwegian Curriculum Reform at a Crossroads
In his talk, Brandmo will give a brief review of his background and previous work. Moreover, he will present some key features of the curriculum reform that was implemented in Norway in 2020. This includes an emphasis on in-depth learning and the three interdisciplinary themes of a) folks’ health and life skills, b) democracy and citizenship, and c) sustainable development. He will also present examples of measurements that were adapted for evaluating the new curriculum's implementation. Finally, he will present some preliminary results from the evaluation.
Christian Brandmo is a Professor of Educational Psychology and Quantitative Methods at the Department of Special Needs Education, University of Oslo. His research interests particularly relate to how different types of beliefs, motivation, and metacognition affect learning processes. Christian has been working on topics such as beginning teachers' job motivation, school leadership, leadership development, reading motivation and comprehension, students' epistemic beliefs, test anxiety, and self-regulated learning.
Currently, he's leading a project intended to evaluate aspects of the new national curriculum launched in 2020. This project examines cohorts of students and teachers. It focuses on learning/teaching approaches (e.g., deep learning) and the three interdisciplinary themes of life skills, citizenship, and sustainability that are particularly emphasised in the new curriculum. In addition, Christian is affiliated with the Centre for Research on Special Needs Education and Inclusive Practices (SpedAims), where he participates in a project that examines content and structures of interprofessional collaboration (parents, schools, educational-psychological service, health, and child welfare) around children with special needs.
