生科系邱雅貞獲世界傳統醫學會議最佳報告獎

國立臺灣師範大學生命科學專業學院生命科學系細胞分生組博士班學生邱雅貞,10月22-23日於泰國曼谷舉辦的世界傳統醫學會議中,榮獲最佳報告獎,指導教授為生科系李桂楨教授。

邱雅貞的獲獎論文題目為「Chinese Herbal Medicine Glycyrrhiza inflata Reduces Aβ Aggregation and Exerts Neuroprotection through Anti-oxidation and Anti-inflammation」,其論文提及阿茲海默氏症(AD)是有關漸進性認知衰退和記憶力喪失的疾病,也是最常見的一種老人痴呆症,病理學上病徵之一是由β-澱粉樣 (Aβ)沉積物組成的老年斑。

研究發現,腦中的Aβ 堆積會造成氧化壓力和發炎損傷,進而導致神經細胞凋亡及認知功能失調。有鑑於此,尋找可能減少Aβ聚集的方法,可能有效治療AD。本研究檢視中藥脹果甘草(G.inflata)及其活性成分甘草查爾酮 A (Licochalcone A)、甘草素(Liquiritigenin)抑制Aβ聚集的情形及神經保護性。結果發現,脹果甘草/活性成份不僅具有抗Aβ 聚集、抗氧化和抗發炎效用還能減緩抗凋亡蛋白BCL2 的下降,並減低凋亡蛋白IGFBP2、BAD及BAX的上升、凋亡蛋白酶3的切割,來保護神經細胞免於發炎所誘導的細胞死亡。

Award-winning research abstract

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most prevalent form of dementia associated with progressive cognitive decline and memory loss. One of the pathological hallmarks of AD is senile plaques consisting of β- amyloid (Aβ) deposits. Studies have proposed that Aβ deposition causes oxidative stress and inflammatory damage which lead to apoptotic cell death and eventual cognitive deficits. Therapeutic approaches to identify novel Aβ aggregate reducers could be an effective treatment for the disease. In this study, Chinese herbal medicine G. inflata and its bioactive constituents licochalcone A and liquiritigenin were examined for Aβ aggregation reduction and neuroprotection. It was found that G. inflata/constituents not only showed anti- Aβ aggregation, anti- oxidative and anti- inflammatory effect, but also protected neuronal cells from inflammation-induced cell death by ameliorating reduced anti-apoptotic BCL2 and attenuating increased apoptotic IGFBP2, BAD, BAX and cleaved CASP3.
