6th IRATDE Biennial Conference held by the Dept. of Special Education

The International Research Association for Talent Development and Excellence (IRATDE) is a professional organization of scientists working in the fields of talent development, creativity, excellence, and innovation. NTNU was entrusted to hold the Biennial Conference of IRATDE at Howard Civil Service International House from April 12th to April 16th. Around 500 experts from 24 countries including Middle East, Europe, Americas and Oceania joined together for this event.
On the opening ceremony on 13th, students from Bei An Junior High School performed a traditional Chinese dance. Followed by a joggling show. The juggler invited the audience to be part of his show and everyone was having a good time.
In his opening remarks, Vice President Frank Y-H Ying thanked IRATDE's trust that make the first conference possible in Taiwan. He also expressed his gratitude for Department of Social Education and the assistance from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology. This forum is a platform where experts can help talented students develop to their fullest. He also suggested the experts to experience Taiwanese culture and dishes.
Professor Abdullah Aljughaiman, the chair from King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia thanked the host NTNU and expected to have a fruitful discussion with everyone. Deputy Commissioner of Taipei City Government's Department of Education Ho Ya Jiuan elaborated the importance of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. She welcomed everyone to Taiwan on behalf of the Department of Education.
In this Biennial, there are six workshops, eight keynote speech, four invited symposiums, four round tables and 82 posters published. The Gifted Education Exhibition held by the K-12 Education Administration was also included in this event. The participants also visited Taipei Municipal Minsheng Elementary School, Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School and other three schools.
The performances were given by gifted students, from elementary school students to college students. Artist Leland Lee, one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Taiwan in 2014, played acoustic guitar and created a work and gave it to the host as a present.
