Taiwan Got 6 Golds and 1 Bronze at 2018 Tug of War International Federation Outdoor Club Championships

The women's tug of war team, composed of teammates of National Taiwan Normal University and students from Taipei Jingmei Girls Highs School, went to Cape Town, South Africa in September for the 2018 Tug of War International Federation Outdoor Club Championships. They have grabbed 6 golds, 1 bronze and kept the 500-kg title for 5 consecutive years; they also triumphed in the under-23 500-kilogram event and senior 540-kg weight class for two years in a row.
Former President Chang Kuo En, Vice President of Office of Student Affairs Chang, Shao Hsi and Chair of the Dept. of Physical Education Lin Mei Chun, former and current president of Taipei Jingmei Girls High School led the team to the game. Only three of the players are high school students, the rest of them are NTNU students or alumni.
On September 22nd, eight teams including Basque Country, Scotland, South Africa, England, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, were competing in the 500 kg weight class. The Chinese Taipei team defeated Basque at the seminal by 2 to 0 and also won Switzerland by 2 to 0 at the final game. This is the team's fifth championship since 2010.
The Chinese Taipei tug of war team has achieved great success in this trip to South Africa, claiming three golds in the under-23 560-kg contest, under-23 500-kg event and the senior 540-kg weight class.
Two months ago, Coach Kuo Sheng was hit by a drunk driver and was still in the hospital. The players were distressed by this accident and the fact that the coach couldn't come with them. They competed the game with pride and strength, brining honor to their team and their coach.
