NTNU Signs MOU with Kyushu University for Exchange Opportunities

The College of Science of NTNU signed an agreement on academic collaboration last December and the activities will start this year. Both sides provide five spots for exchange students and take turns on holding academic seminars. President Chiharu Kubo came to NTNU on January 7th this year and made some further discussion about the academic exchange, all-English course, Taiwan Study lecture and so on, for a beneficiary outcome for both universaties.
Kyushu University is a Japanese national university located in Fukuoka, Kyushu. It is the 4th oldest university in Japan and one of the former Imperial Universities. It is considered one of the most prestigious universities in Japan. The history of Kyushu University can be traced by medical schools of the feudal domains built in 1867, and is the largest public university in Kyushu. It's located in the heart of Fukuoka, close to Kyushu National Museum and many tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
Fukuoka is a place where researchers like to come because they have abundant academic resources. The QS ranking of Kyushu University is 128th. The Chemistry Department is listed in top 51~100 universities.
The College of Science will provide five spots for exchange students, the College of Education and Kyushu University offers all English courses. Prof. Lin Tzu Bin from the Department of Education said that last December, Prof. Edward Vickers from Kyushu University came to NTNU for a one-week course. He will be visiting their university this February.
The College of Liberal Arts will start the Lecture of Taiwan Studies for three years at Kyushu University with the financial support from the Ministry of Education. Chairman of the Department of Taiwan Culture, Language and Literature Nikky Lin said that the topic will be Contemporary Politics, Ideology and Mass Cultural Studies. The course will start this September.
The signing ceremony was held at Ito Campus of Kyushu University on December 21st. Representatives from NTNU are led by Vice President Wu Cheng Chih, Vice President for International Affairs Yu Kuang Chao, Chairman Kwunmin Chen and former Chairman Lin. The representatives from Kyushu University are President from the School of Engineering Takamatsu Hiroshi, Vice President Yoshio Hisaeda, Chairman Katsuro Hayashi from the Department of Applied Science. They have taken part in the signing ceremony.
On the second day, the administrators visited the dormitory at Kyushu University to know the environment where foreign students stay. Later, they met with the President Chiharu Kubo and many other academic leaders for the discussion of collaboration. After the luncheon, representatives went to Art, Science, and Technology Center for Cooperative Research.
