2017 World Games Ended, President Chang Presented Prizes to Athletes

The World Games of 2017 just came to an end. More than 10 contestants joined the contest. Chinese Taipei Tug of War Women’s team brought back gold medal and achieved four consecutive victories in a row. The Taiwan team also grabbed the first silver among all Asian countries in Korfball. Wen Tzu-Yun, a karate athlete, got a silver medal in her first time joining the world games. A ceremony was held on August 9th and President Chang gave the athletes prize of 50,000 NTD and 30,000 NTD to encourage them to keep up the good work.
President Chang said that the Taiwan team got a total of 1 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze while NTNU student got 1 gold and 2 silver. He is impressed by the hard work the athletes put into practice. Vice President of the Office of Student Affairs Chang Shao His said that in the 2011 Universiade, the Taiwanese athletes grabbed 11 gold medals while 4 of them were received by NTNU students. He also thanked the president, the Sports Administration, and the medical team for supporting the athletes.
Chinese Taipei Tug of War Women’s bring back 1 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze. On the finalist against China on July 29th, the Taiwan team won and achieve the 4th victory in a row. They have defeated South Africa, Ireland, Switzerland, Netherlands and won team China in the final round. One player, Kao Chiao Yi, said that they have made up their mind to take the fourth gold medal. Now they have successfully won the game and they truly appreciate the support from family and friends.
The Chinese Taipei national korfball team grabbed the first silver medal in all Asian teams in history of the World Games. They are proud to be the first in Asia and will continue to join international games to compete.
Karate Athlete Wen Tzu-Yun made it to the final at her debut at the World Games and won a silver medal. In 2020, karate will be one of the games in Tokyo Olympics and Wen will work hard to achieve her goal to join the Olympics.
