圖
The pass away of the internationally known Guitar master Roland Dyens last October is one of the loss in the guitar world. Many memorial workshops and concerts are held around the world in tribute of this great musician. NTNU has invited Roger Eon, one of his classmates, to Taiwan and commemorate Dyens with his fans.
Roger Eon graduated from Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, one of the prestigious music schools in Paris. He is considered as Tarrega’s successor and have received many positive feedbacks from other guitarists
Guitarist Alfredo Show-Lee Huang, teaches at NTNU, is a friend of Roger Eon for years. He is the key that made this concert happen. Huang said that although it’s very difficult to master guitar, guitar is still popular among people because the register of it is close to those of man’s.
The guitar is a musical instrument classified as a fretted string instrument with anywhere from four to 18 strings, usually having six. The sound is projected either acoustically, using a hollow wooden or plastic and wood box (for an acoustic guitar and classic guitar), or through electrical amplifier and a speaker (for an electric guitar). Acoustic guitar is more common, which gained its popularity in 1960s. People can sing alone while playing guitar, especially folk songs and campus ballad. Huang said that in classical music, there’s no lyrics, so there’s more room for interpretation compared to pop music.
